Default Folder X 4.0.3 is now available in English, Japanese, German, French, and Danish. Despite the minor change in the version number, this is a very important update that everyone should install. It fixes a couple of significant problems – the biggest one is a memory corruption bug that could cause crashes or odd behavior in Carbon applications.
Version 4.0.3 also gives you some nice new features. The one I like the most is the contextual menu that pops up when you control-click on an item in the list of files in Open or Save As dialogs. Now you can choose “Save As,” right click on the old version of a file and create a .zip file of it, then replace it with the new file. It’s a nice, simple way to create an archive of the old version so you can get it back if necessary.
Special thanks go to our localizers, who remain dedicated to making sure Default Folder X reaches the world in their native languages in a timely fashion. They are:
- Takanori Taniguchi (Japanese)
- Mogens Thyregod (Danish)
- Philippe Bonnaure (French)
- Eberhard Woentz (German)
A huge thanks to them for their help, suggestions, and testing too! And thank you to all the folks who’ve reported bugs, made suggestions, and generally just had incredible enthusiasm for Default Folder X – you guys are what makes running an indie software company so great!
