Screen Snapshots of Sleeper's Controls
Disk Sleep: Select disks to put to sleep by clicking on their checkboxes (don't worry - the name of each disk is displayed above the checkbox when you move the mouse over it). Then use the slider or +/- arrows to set the amount of time disks must be idle before Sleeper puts them to sleep.
Screen Saver: Just select a delay and brightness level, and your monitor will gently dim after it has been left unused. "Hot corners" allow you to invoke the screen saver immediately, or prevent it from activating if you're reading something on-screen but not using the keyboard or mouse.
Monitor and CPU Power: To put your monitor into low-power mode, choose a delay and select either "Suspend" or "Power-Off" mode ("Suspend" will conserve nearly as much power as "Power-Off" while allowing the monitor to wake up faster than when it is fully powered off).
"Power down computer when idle" allows you to select either "Sleep" or "Shutdown" and set a desired delay before activation. Note that the "Wait for disk access to stop" option allows you to leave your Mac while it's downloading something from the internet, putting it to sleep only after the download has finished and the associated disk access has ceased.
Password: Just tell Sleeper when you want to password protect your Mac and set your password.
Hotkey and Options: You can use a hotkey to invoke Sleeper directly from the keyboard - just set a hotkey and choose which of Sleeper's features to activate with it.
Sleeper can turn processor cycling on and off on Macs that support it, delivering even more power savings, and can also wake the screen or flash the LED's on your keyboard if an application needs your attention.
And for those that need even more control... there are a number of very geeky but occasionally useful options in Sleeper's super-top-secret "Expert Options" dialog (well, it's not all that secret, but because it's only discussed in the documentation - which no one ever reads - few people know about it).
